ABOUT US

The Environmental Justice Leadership Forum on Climate Change (The EJ Forum) is a national coalition of 41 environmental justice organizations (Coordinated by WE ACT for Environmental Justice) working together to advance climate justice and impact policy to ensure the protection and promotion of communities of color and low-income communities throughout the U.S. The forum was initiated in 2008 in response to the emerging concerns around possible mitigation strategies and regulations that were being presented as options to reduce Greenhouse gas emissions, had the potential to amplify the disproportionate environmental burden on communities of color, and/or low income.

Organizational Structure

We have a steering committee that provides direction for the Coalition, made up of 9 members. The Steering Committee has provided a suggested framework for the Forum’s work including meeting frequency, communication and the primary areas of work based on the current domains of work of the Forum Members, political relevance, resource availability and expertise.

Steering committee meetings will be held quarterly. Full Forum meetings will be held quarterly as well. Most meetings will be held via teleconference. However, where possible, opportunities to meet face-to-face are preferred. There is always the option to meet more frequently when needed.
